As our forex members certainly noticed, we had some datafeed issues last week which spilled over until early this week. The problems were isolated to our Forex data feeds. We have been watching the forex scans very closely since then and everything seems fine at this point, but we wanted to give some more details for those who are curious to put your minds at ease.

Here’s what happened:

Last Thursday (6/12) our data vendor had to switch to their backup servers due to their monitoring system showing a failure on their primary servers. This hardly ever happens, and they expected everything to go smoothly while they fixed the problem. However, this time it caused the closing price of each symbol to be duplicated from the previous day’s close. One of our users noticed the problem first and reported it to us, we confirmed it and immediately notified our data vendor. They fixed the issue and we re-scanned the forex signals. During this time there was a notice on the site.

On Friday, we checked and everything seemed to be ok, so we removed the notice. Our data vendor had switched back to their primary servers and assured us the issue had been resolved. However, at some point the bad data was re-introduced over the weekend while they were running new backups and installing new hardware. On Monday’s scan we noticed some more anomalies, and we immediately notified our data providers who rebuilt their entire forex database and checked it by hand. This took some time, but by tuesday everything was back up and running OK.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working on a way to compensate our users for the downtime. We plan to extend the subscription by a few days to cover the down time for any members who have signed up for a forex package, but we have to work out the technical details as we don’t have a method in place already to do this.

Fortunately, we do already have a project in place to convert our software over to a new platform which will allow us to use a much better data feed. This will provide us more reliability as well as extend our market coverage to over 9,000 stocks and over 100 currencies. We also have some other projects in the works so watch for some new features in the coming weeks.

Thanks for using theWizard.com!
